33% of millennial home buyers’ choice to purchase a home was primarily affected by their dog, according to a survey. Millennials who are yet to own a home are prioritizing pups, with 42% of those surveyed by SunTrust saying a dog is an important consideration in their home purchasing decisions. Here are some tips for buying a pet friendly home in Boston that can make the transition easier for you and your furry friend/s.
Put your pets under the list of home features
You must think over features or lack of features in a house that may not be compatible with the needs of your pets. In case you happen to be a pet owner with indoor pets, a fence in in the yard or stairs may not be a deal breaker. You may want to have securely screened windows to make sure that your pets are not faced with the risk of falling out, which is quite common. Moreover, you might want to see what grows not only inside your yard but also outside it to make sure your pets do not run the risk of feeding on any poisonous plants.
Availability of pet services
One of the most important tips for buying a pet friendly home in Boston is to see how close pet services are to your place. See if there are seasoned veterinarians, pet stores, emergency pet centers and city parks in the vicinity. Should you run into any problems or the internet does not offer enough help, you may feel free to turn to your realtor for assistance.
A pet friendly neighborhood
Let’s say you find yourself a house that is conducive to living with a pet. Your cat or dog would want you to let them roam around, so it is certainly not enough in case the neighborhood is not conducive to walking your pets. Before you make the final decision, make sure you see if there are any pet owners in the area. If so, drive by the place in the morning and evening to see when and where most pet owners walk their pets.
