Spring is a great time to sell your Boston house as many buyers are out there with the promise of a fresh start. But if you want to make the most of this ideal time to sell your house, you will need to keep some important points in mind. For example, ensure the cleanliness of your home before you begin looking for buyers. Here are some more tips on preparing to sell your Boston home in spring.
Tidy up the floors and walls
Floors are exposed to a great amount of abuse over the winter season from such things as dirt, salt and snow. It is wise to buff worn spots on wooden flooring with some polyurethane and give carpets a detailed cleaning. As far as cleaning the walls goes, you can use a bucket full of warm water with some drops of mild soap along with a sponge to clean any marks.
Clear up the counters
Sure, those coffeemakers and toasters offer a lot convenience, but they clutter the space when buyers visit. In case there is any room left in the cupboard, try to stash such items in there. Otherwise, set these inside a large box while decorating the counter with things such as a bowl of fresh seasonal fruit. This will offer more room for any visiting buyer’s imagination.
Switch the dark with the bright
Store any winter blankets or dark colored accessories you have in your cupboard and replace these with bright shawl throws. If you happen to have dark wood tables, it is wise to cover it with a bright cloth. In order to add to your bedroom’s appeal, you could use affordable staging items like throw pillows, towels, candles as well as table settings in yellow, lavender, sage green and blue colors.
Pay attention to the doors
Buyers enter the building through the front door, so if you happen to have a circular wreath in place, it is better to take it down since it lends buyers the impression that you are still in the holiday mood. You could hang a welcome sign as well as a welcome mat instead. In the backyard, you could add potted bulbs on the back steps or on a deck table in order to add color to the vacant spaces.
