Questions During a House Viewing – Why?
Asking questions during a house viewing is important because this is the best time to get the relevant information you need to make a decision. Buying a house is a massive commitment – one that requires considerable amount of money and time. You must make sure you are aware of all critical information about the property before you submit an offer.
A good time to ask all your important questions is during a house viewing, which allows you to gather important information directly from the source. Here are some questions to ask during a house viewing.
Offer due dates
To begin with, ask the seller when the offers are due. When you are looking at more than one property, it is easy to miss a deadline. It is also possible that the seller refuses to consider offers before a certain date. Submitting an offer too soon may even give a seller the impression that you are overly eager in your approach.
Offers made to date
It is a good idea to ask about the number of offers that the seller has already received. If they happen to be a good number, chances are that the property might sell soon. Conversely, less number of offers received could indicate that your chances of sealing the deal are good. However, it may also hint at a flaw in the property that you may have to take note of.
Problems with the house
Sellers need to be forthcoming about any existing problems with the property. You need not wait for disclosure documents to find details about such issues. Instead, be sure to ask about such problems in person during your visit.
Seller’s reason for moving
While sellers may have a number of different reasons for moving, it is important to ask why. You would hate to replace them in a house that is situated in a neighborhood with growing crime rate, for instance. Also, consider asking them why they suggest living in the property.
Asking questions during a house visit is an important part of the house buying process, so be sure to keep a list ready and have all your queries addressed.
