There is no denying that staging your house can help sell the property faster and for a relatively better price. Despite its merits, you may want to skip the staging process altogether because of lack of finances or any other reason. Here are some excuses for skipping the staging process when selling your house.
Staging is a hefty expense
If you seek a professional’s help for the staging process, that alone would cost you a good amount of money. If you happen to have limited finances or perhaps the primary reason why you are selling is to shore up your finances for some planned expenditure, this cost may seem unnecessary. Plus, staging may improve your chances to sell faster and for more money but it does not guarantee either. The longer the property stays on the market, the more it would cost in monthly bills anyway.
My view is my primary asset
You may choose to skip the staging process if you believe your view is your primary asset. This can potentially backfire if the visitors fail to notice your view simply because they are distracted by whatever is inside the rooms. If you wish to take on the responsibility, it is advisable to set up everything in such a way that the visitors notice things in the perfect order you have planned rather than locking their sights on the couch or a set of porcelain cups.
The interior is fine - really
It is possible that you, your family and friends prefer to see your house just the way it is. However, any potential buyers coming in for a viewing may see the property in a different light. It may not make them feel as comfortable, nor would the things in it fill them with joy as they do you. Instead, they would tend to focus only on the space and the layout, which can be fine-tuned with staging. If you still believe the house does not need any more personality, feel free to have it your way.
